Renee Kathleen Zellweger

Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on April 25 1969 in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfridirene (Andreassen) is a Norwegian-born former nurse and midwife, of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) and Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss engineer. They got married in 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older brother. He is an executive in the field of marketing who was born February 15, 1967. Renee got interested in acting during high school when she was working in the drama club. She attended an acting class at University of Texas (Austin) and began thinking about acting as a career. She was keen to pursue acting following graduation. But, Hollywood can be difficult to get into so Renee determined to remain in Texas and audition for roles in Houston. At the time, she got roles in films such as Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her pal while she was on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). Renee was able to observe him working on a project which attracted her. She was a part-time auditioner and got the part in Love and A.45 (1994). It brought her critical acclaim for her to make the decision to move to Los Angeles. She was then offered another role in The Whole Wide World (1996) that gave her the biggest break of her career. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film The Whole Wide World, Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering actresses such like Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei, when he was introduced to Zellweger's role in The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and felt confident she was the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee followed her huge success with a handful of small independent films and after receiving more praise from critics She was confident enough to return to the world of big-budget Hollywood films. She starred opposite Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing (1998). Also, she starred with Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began to date Carrey shortly thereafter. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
